Resonator 02:52
i know it’s strange when you decide to let it drain until it’s dry. and let it run until there is no light. and then it breaks and then it’s all right. they called your name out and the voice resonates through your veins. they called your name out and the voice resonates through you. i know it’s strange when you decide to let it drain until it’s dry. and let it run until there is no light. the shadows break and then they surround. they called your name out and the voice resonates through your veins. they called your name out and the voice resonates through you.

you keep control and it’s up on the wall. you get involved and you’re part of the files. conveyor belt spits out nine and the five. you give up to get on you get up to get off. you learn the system but you haven’t enough. you cheat the system and the system will fall. neat little cogs all stand in a row. you move up to get on you get up to get off. undone and you’re locked in the fall. dead ahead and you got no gain. postpone what you love till it’s thrown aside. the path’s beaten and you’ve come so far. no motives and you got no name. it hits home till the core of your bones resign. you keep control and it’s up on the wall. you get involved and you’re part of the files. conveyor belt spits out nine and the five. you give up to get on you get up to get off. you learn the system but you haven’t enough. you cheat the system and the system will fall. neat little cogs all stand in a row. you move up to get on you get up to get off. undone and you’re locked in fall. maintain and you get the rage. postpone what you love till it’s thrown aside. the path’s beaten and you’ve come so far. no motives and you got no name. it hits home till the core of your bones resign. detach. detach. detach. you give up to get on you get up to get off. undone and you’re locked in the fodder. maintain and you get the raise. postpone what you love till it’s thrown aside. the path’s beaten and you’ve come so far. you’ve got soul for the big exchange. it hits home till the core of your bones resign.

light hits the trail just seconds to midnight. ahead a crossroad shining in the moonlight. the playing hands could use a little spit-shine. better find it fast because you’re running out of time. yeah it won’t be long. and the two of you dance and you kiss under the moonlight. you make a pact and you celebrate with blood wine. embrace the dark with his head on your shoulder. better find it fast because you’re running out of time. find god and the devil in the night sky. kiss them twice as they sing to you a lullaby. it hits you hard and the constellations ask “why oh why?” yeah it won’t be long. light hits the trail just seconds to midnight. ahead a crossroad shining in the moonlight. you bite your lip a little harder just to stay calm. better find it fast because you’re running out of time. find god and the devil in the night sky. kiss them twice as they sing to you a lullaby. it hits you hard and the constellations ask “why oh why?” find god and the devil in the night sky. make your choice and prepare yourself to die tonight. hits you hard and the constellations ask “why oh why?”

End Goal 02:33
now you found disorder. now the earth revolves. the boy evolves. now you found it’s already out. and there are so many sounds. like the sound of your heart beating. what is your end goal? won’t you decide? now you found disorder. now the earth revolves. the boy evolves. tell me what is your end goal? what is your end goal? won’t you decide?

The River 04:19
oh, heaven knows i would meet you across the river. and tune your voice. with you i would talk forever. and know that when the sail hits the wind we’re taking off. if only we would stay awake. you challenge the minds that bring you down. you talk through the night and turn me ‘round. what once was lost now clearly found. you tell those tales of glory. gloria. heaven knows i’ve tried to be here and across the river. and tune your voice my darling. with you i would sing forever. and know that when the sail hits the wind oh we’re taking off. if only we would stay awake. you challenge the minds that bring you down. you talk through the night and turn me ‘round. what once was lost now clearly found. you tell those tales of glory. gloria. heaven knows i’ve tried to be here and across the river. and tune your voice my darling with you i would see in colors. and know that when the sail hits the wind oh we’re taking off. if only we could stay awake.

dear won’t you take a break and come with me across the sea. and we’ll sell off all our things and we would live off of the sweat of our brows. and i’ll take your hand in mine and we’ll walk until we’re drifting. and we’ll leave it all behind. it was nothing to begin with. and this is when we’ll find our answers. when we leave it all behind. in and out with the breeze and now we’re truly free. my breath is swirling with the leaves. their paths unknown but they’ll take the chance for now. our eyes our souls our minds in an honest new beginning. i’ve waited to arrive but i’m done with all the waiting. and this is when we’ll find our answers. when we leave it all behind. and i’ll take your hand in mine and we’ll walk until we’re drifting. and we’ll leave it all behind. it was nothing to begin with. and this is when we’ll find our answers. when we leave it all behind.

The Wreckage 03:07
outside of the circle. outside we watched it turn. i’m searching for angles. we’ll see if you sell yours oh i’m just sayin’... looks like it to me. we won’t just sit this out. outside of the wreckage. i learned to walk away. we’ll see who’s the hero. we’ll see if you sell your soul i’m just sayin’... looks like it to me. we won’t just sit this out. not lot to see but there’s a lot to believe. you reap what you sow and you eat what you keep. an eye for an eye and an ear for an ear. a mind for a bribe. and the money is scarce and our tummies are hungry. searching for answers and a person to blame. the fire we share is what’s keeping us ready. the fire we share is what will give us a name. we won’t just sit this out. we won’t just sit this out.

Derailer 03:08
we’ll meet when we sound the alarm. derailer and try to take this train apart. derailer when you’re lost in the maze. it’s our meal and it’s all wrapped in cellophane. sleeper car when you’re lost in your bed. mouths are moving but you can’t hear a word we said. derailer has just tripped the wire. we waited while we crouched in the trailer park. i would rather see us throw away our civil life identity. singing la la la la la la la and we’ll be singing all the while. and when we hit another state. when we find another line. we’ll sing la la la la la la la and we’ll take it down. we’ll meet when we sound the alarm. derailer and try to take this train apart. derailer when you’re lost in the maze. it’s our meal and it’s all wrapped in cellophane. we’ll meet when we sound the alarm. derailer and try to take this train apart. derailer when you’re lost in the maze. our meal and it’s all wrapped in cellophane.

Moonshine 01:50
i tell you that i’m no saint. show my anti-prohibition pride. i got something little on the way, oh it’s one, two, guess who’s lost in the bottle. couldn’t tell you if you asked my name. when i settle in for the night. and i settled on it long ago, triple x on the bottle i came to take. all right. i tell you that i’m no saint. little ghost controlling me. when i settle in for the night, i slept for one whole hour. maybe i let you go. girl i said i’d leave but i was meaning to stay. that’s what happens when you got me in the middle. triple x on the bottle... i came to take. oh in love. in love with the bottle. no doubt it’s love. it’s subtle incoherent talk. it’s the golden liquid gentle touch. about another hour and i ain’t got a prayer. and it’s on to another make. i can give it another go triple x on the bottle.

Lie 03:28
shine your light down on me. on the ceiling of the cell i’m writing names. you could lie and tell 'em what you need to. you could lie and tell 'em what to believe. seven years and i still can not sing. on the ceiling of the cell i’m writing names. you could try and get up on your feet now. you could try and tell 'em what to believe. Yeah. shine your light down on me. on the ceiling of the cell i’m writing names. you could try and get up on your feet now. you could try and tell 'em what you need. you could lie or get up on your feet now. you could try and tell 'em what to believe. out there we hear it’s fine. we hear it all the time. it’s enough to make you cry “hold on...” “hold on here...” you’re on your knees. you could lie or get up on your feet. you could lie or get up on your feet. you could lie and tell 'em what to believe. (ghost noise)

about

"I don't think I've rocked harder to any record out of Chicago this year." "This disc rocked my world all week." -Richard Milne, Local Anesthetic, WXRT

"King Sparrow is quite possibly the best rock 'n' roll band in Chicago."
-Frank Krolicki, Windy City Rock

"This is definitely how Chicago should sound." -Billy Ocean, Radio One Chicago, WLUW

"...And an impressive debut [record] it is, improving on the group's earlier EP in nearly every way imaginable. The trio's shaggy garage rock has a natural swing and swagger, whether they're surveying the remains of a shattered relationship (a riff-laden "The Wreckage") or trying to find a way to break free from the 9-to-5 grind (an incessant ‘Conveyor Belt’)”. -Chicago Tribune

"Rooted in an epic garage rock sound, King Sparrow is pop-y enough for toe tapping, but has just the right roughness around the edges. Add some blues to this mix and you've got yourself some hells yeah music." -Gapers Block

"The album is filled with great lyrics, inventive instrumentation, and layers of warmth and energy."
-The Deli Magazine

"...a very impressive album filled with a tight, captivating sound electric with raw energy."
-Britni Day, Loud Loop Press

"Following up an a strong EP called “Derailer,” the Chicago trio King Sparrow, one of the most melodic garage bands to climb out of the grungy murk in some time, will celebrate the release of its first full album tonight at Schubas." -Jim DeRogatis
